Mouse Ear Hawkweed (Pilosella Officinarum)
Mouse-ear-hawkweed is a perennial plant flowering from May until autumn. A variable species, a number of sub-species have been recorded. It is abundant in dry areas and is found across a broad pH range of soils. It does not grow in shady or wet places.
The rosette has leaves with hairy undersides and the stem can grow up to 50cm tall. The flowers are pale yellow. Individual plants can live for over 10 years and seed is produced apomictically (identical to the parent) and also by insect pollination.
