Contact Herbicide / Fungicide
Contact herbicides or fungicides only kill the plant tissue which comes into contact with the chemical.
As an herbicide it is quite often the fastest acting, but the whole plant must be sprayed to be effective. They are not so effective on perennial plants because they can grow again from roots or rhizomes.
Contact herbicides primarily work by acting on the membrane systems of leaf tissues and inhibiting the plant’s metabolism.
Contact fungicides may be used to control such weeds as:
- Fusarium patch
- Red thread
- Dollar spot
- Anthracnose
- Rust
