Common Sorrel (Rumex Acetosa)
Common sorrel is an herbaceous perennial, most frequent on slightly acidic soils of pH 5.0 to 7.0 and flowers from May to August. The flowers are on the common sorrel are wind pollinated and there are usually around 2,000 seeds per plant.
It is native to a wide range of places including mountain ledges and river shingle and often grows to over a metre tall, arising from a short, underground stem.
