Methyl Chlorophenoxy Acetic Acid (MCPA)

Methyl chlorophenoxy acetic acid (MCPA) is a post-emergence, selective herbicide used to control perennial and annual weeds. Whilst MCPA does not dissolve well in water, it is soluble in organic solvents containing carbon.

It is mainly used to control broad-leaf weeds in sports/amenity turf.

MCPA as a weed killer works by interfering with protein synthesis, cell division and finally the plant’s growth.

MCPA can be used to control many weeds including:

  • Common mouse ear
  • Daisy
  • Broad-leaved plantain
  • Creeping buttercup
  • Common Dandelion
  • White clover
  • Sea plantain
  • Ribwort plantain
  • Yellow suckling clover
  • Knotgrass
  • Hawkbit
  • Yarrow

Rigby Taylor sells products that include varying strengths of MCPA including:
